SESSION SUMMARY

Migrating to the cloud presents significant opportunities to reduce costs, improve capability, and ensure greater reliability, scalability, and performance.  However, considerations for data architecture, data governance, and security need to be taken into account. For example, is “lift and shift” always the best approach or should the data be re-architected to take advantage of cloud capabilities for NoSQL,  Big Data, columnar, or row-based RDBMS processing?  When should a multi-cloud solution be employed?  What are some of the deciding factors for choosing which applications and databases to migrate to the cloud?  How do you determine the advantages of moving to the cloud vs. on-prem and colocation?  When is greenfield development (re-architecture) vs. brownfield (“lift and shift”) existing databases/applications to the cloud the best approach?

In this informative session, Pete Stiglich and Fred Hazboun will review  the major cloud offerings on the market and provide guidance for choosing the right cloud architecture for your solution, and understand how data architecture is affected.
