8:30 – 12:00 Noon:  Data Fabric and Beyond – Trends in Modern Data Management Architecture

SESSION SUMMARY

Data fabric is a combination of architecture and technology designed to streamline the complexities of managing different kinds of data, using multiple DBMSs, and deployed across multiple platforms. A typical Data Management organization has data deployed in on-premises data centers and multiple cloud environments. They have data in flat files, tagged files, relational databases, and NoSQL databases, with processing that spans from batch ETL to stream processing. The variety of tools, technologies, platforms, and data types makes it difficult to manage processing, access, security, and integration. Data fabric provides a consolidated Data Management platform. It is a single platform to manage disparate data and divergent technologies deployed across multiple data centers, both cloud and on-premises.
Data fabric is the current state-of-practice in modern data architecture, but new trends are emerging to stretch beyond data fabric. Following an in-depth look at data fabric, we’ll take a quick look at data mesh and data network architectures that are gaining attention and interest.
You will learn:

  • What data fabric is and why it is important
  • Why organizations need data fabric
  • How data fabric extends and complements existing Data Management architecture
  • Functions and features of data fabric technologies
  • The current state of data fabric technologies
  • Emerging trends in data management – data mesh and data networks
